Description
No. 40 Mill Street is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features a roughcast ground floor and stucco upper levels, topped with a hipped Welsh slate roof and a brick ridge stack. The building has three storeys and a cellar, with a three-window range that includes 6/6 sash windows with broad glazing bars on the ground floor and 3/3 sashes above. The eaves are moulded wood.
The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with an ornamental overlight, set in a round-headed panelled case beneath an open pediment hood supported by moulded pilasters. To the left of the entrance are two 6/6 sash windows, and to the right is one 6/6 sash window, all featuring corbelled stone sills. A broad storey band runs above the ground floor. The right and left sides of the building are also stuccoed, with returned eaves moulding and a storey band on the left return.
