Description
No. 35 Church Street is a house that was later used as a school and is now a shop. It dates from the late 18th century and has had some later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof with rebuilt ridge stacks on both the left and right sides. It stands three storeys tall and has a moulded stone eaves cornice. The front has five windows, which are glazing bar sashes with gauged heads, and a Venetian window at the centre of the first floor. The central entrance is reached by a semi-circular flight of four steps and has an open-pedimented doorcase with fluted pilasters, panelled reveals, and a fanlight, along with a deeply recessed half-glazed door. There are late 19th-century shop fronts on the left and right sides. The building was formerly home to Oswestry High School.
