Description
No. 12 Princess Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It was built around 1800 and has undergone some alterations in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. It stands three stories high and features a three-window range, with a central entrance that is flanked by shop fronts that have bow windows. The entrance is highlighted by a pedimented, reeded doorcase. The upper windows are 12-pane sashes with flat-arched gauged brick heads that include keystones, while the attic storey has 6-pane sashes. The building is topped with a modillion eaves cornice. Inside, the original staircase is still intact, featuring turned balusters, and there are remnants of a plaster frieze in a rear room that has been subdivided.
