Description
This barn, located approximately 20 meters south of The Ditches Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame, with regularly coursed limestone rubble on the right gable end and red brick on the left, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has two levels, with stable doors and eaves hatches on both sides, as well as 20th-century double doors on the far right of the north side. Inside, the framing is visible, consisting of square and rectangular panels, some with woven infill, and short straight tension braces. There is a raised wooden threshing floor in the third bay from the right. The roof is a double-purlin design spanning seven bays, incorporating a mix of Queen-strut trusses and raking struts from tie beams that support the principal rafters. The Ditches Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
