Description

This is a pair of shops located at 1 and 1A Wyle Cop, dating from around 1800, although they have an earlier core. The building is constructed of brick, and the roof is not visible behind the parapet eaves. It stands three storeys high and features a three-window range. The two shop fronts, which are identical and date from the late 19th century, have paired consoles supporting the fascias. The upper windows are 12-pane sashes with flat-arched gauged brick heads. There is a moulded stone cornice beneath the parapet. At the back, there is a wing that is in separate occupation and includes elements of an earlier structure, with some exposed timbering of thin scantling in the rear wall.
