Description
4 and 5 Dogpole is a pair of shops, now functioning as a single office, likely originally built as houses in the late 18th century, with a possible earlier core. The building is constructed of brick and features a roof made of Welsh slate and plain tiles. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window range. The late 19th-century shop fronts are of identical design, featuring recessed doorways and windows in the left-hand unit that are divided by a slim central glazing bar. There is a fascia with console brackets at each end and above the doorway to the right, which provides access to the upper floors. The upper windows are flush-framed 16-pane sashes, with casement windows on the second storey, all topped with flat-arched painted gauged brick heads. The building has coped gables and a stack on the central party wall.
