Description
34 and 36 King Street is a pair of shops, likely built for this purpose or added to an earlier structure in the mid-19th century, around 1840, with 20th-century alterations. The buildings are constructed of painted brick and feature a Welsh slate roof. They are two storeys high and have a three-window range. The shop front includes a continuous fascia supported by console brackets, above wide six-pane shop windows with a recessed doorway on each side. Above, there is a single twelve-pane sash window, flanked by sixteen-pane pivoting windows that have been renewed in their original openings. All windows have flat-arched stuccoed heads with stressed keystones. The buildings also feature a moulded wood eaves cornice at the parapet front, an end wall stack, and the gable wall of No. 36 has been rebuilt. The interior has not been inspected.
