Description
46 and 47 Wyle Cop is a pair of houses, now used for commercial purposes, dating from around 1800. The buildings are constructed of brick and topped with a Welsh slate roof. They rise three stories and feature a four-window range, with two late 19th-century shop fronts that include outer doorways and two-pane windows framed with architraves and a continuous fascia. The upper windows are 12-pane sash windows, each with flat-arched gauged brick heads, and the eaves are finished with a plain parapet. The left corner of the building is chamfered, and the upper storey is slightly corbelled out.
On the gable return, there is a three-window range that includes a central six-panelled door with an overlight set in a pedimented case. To the right, there is an inserted shop window, and to the left, a 16-pane sash window. The upper windows on this side are also 16-pane sashes, with a 12-pane sash above the doorway. A blind semicircular window can be found in the gable apex. At the rear, there is a lower wing that also rises three stories, featuring outer doorways and two 12-pane sash windows on the ground floor, with 9-pane sash windows above. The building has a dentilled eaves band and an axial stack. It forms a single structure with No. 48.
