Description

This is a row of three shops located on Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury, dating back to the late 18th century but incorporating a core from the 16th and 17th centuries. The building is constructed of brick, with some timbering visible at the rear. The roof is hidden behind a parapet with eaves. The row is three storeys high and has a three-window facade. Late 20th-century shop fronts have been inserted at street level. Above the shops are paired sash windows, each with a segmentally-arched stucco surround and a stressed keystone. Number 8 has lower windows that open onto a small wrought-iron balcony. The upper windows are wide six-pane sashes with segmentally-arched stucco surrounds. Raised brick aprons are incorporated into the parapet above the windows, with the apron of Number 8 altered to accommodate an inserted window. Gable end stacks are present.
