Description

This is an early 18th-century shop, originally built as a dwelling. It is located on the south side of Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury. The building is constructed of painted brick with a plain tiled roof. It is three stories high with attic dormers, and has a three-window front. A shop front was inserted in the mid-20th century, featuring a central door and a high fascia. Above the shop front are flush-framed sash windows: the windows on the second storey have four panes, while others have two. These windows are topped with flat-arched brick heads, keystones, and moulded sills. String courses run above each storey, and recessed aprons, with raised panels above, appear below the second-floor windows. Angle quoins are present, and a deep projecting eaves cornice features modillion details. The gables are coped with moulded kneelers. Two dormers with pediments are within the roof. An ornate cast-iron rainwater head is also present.
