Description

This is a chest tomb located 4 metres south of the south transept of the Church of St Lawrence in Church Stretton. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a plain pyramid lid with plain edges and simple side and end panels. It has corner piers with incised bordered plain panels and a plain plinth inset below the side panels. The memorial commemorates John Childe, who died in 1833, and his wife Mary, who died in 1837.
