Description

This is a chest tomb located 17 metres south of the south transept of the Church of St Lawrence in Church Stretton. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a plain pedimented lid with a plain inset, along with plain side and end panels. It has raised fluted corner piers and a plain plinth inset below the panels. The memorial commemorates George Corfield, who died in 1830 at the age of 67, his wife Mary, who died in 1846, Thomas Corfield, who died in 1840, and George Corfield, who died in 1836 at the age of 42.
