Description
No. 23 High Street is a 17th-century timber-framed building that has been stuccoed. It features a gabled front adorned with 19th-century bargeboards and a finial. The structure has three storeys and an attic, with the top storey projecting on a moulded bressummer that has pendants at each end. The gable includes false timbering and a three-light casement window. The second storey also projects, supported by a moulded bressummer, and features a central two-storey bay window that rests on the fascia board of the shop. This bay window has a gabled top with bargeboard, pendants, and a modern sash window. The early 20th-century shop front includes a projecting hood and curved glass. The roof is tiled. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 21 to 23, The Feathers Hotel, Nos. 26 and 27, and St Katherine's Chapel and Hall.
