Description
This is a 17th-century market house, likely rebuilt in the early 18th century with an 18th-century front. It is part of a notable group of listed buildings on the east side of High Street. The building is constructed of red brick with a moulded stone coping to the parapet and a moulded cornice. It is three storeys high with three windows. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, each with a flat arch and keyblock above. A large Victorian shop front is present, featuring pilasters and a cornice. The building has an L-shaped plan, incorporating a timber-framed wing at the rear that was formerly detached. At the rear, facing the yard, is a small, blocked oval window on the ground floor and a decorative band between the ground and first floors.
