Description
The stable, likely built in the late 18th century, is a timber-frame structure with brick and plaster infill, topped with a hipped Welsh slate roof that slopes to the west. It consists of two bays arranged east to west and has two levels. The south elevation features two-leaved ledged doors on the left side. The frame consists of three panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. Inside, there is a collar truss with braces that are tied to the wall-posts. Attached to the stable is a wall that connects it to Field's Place Cottage; this wall is probably from the late 18th or early 19th century, made of brick, approximately 20 yards long and ten feet high, curving up to about 15 feet at the eaves of Field's Place Cottage. This stable and wall are included for their group value as significant features in the setting of Field's Place and Field's Place Cottage.
