Description
The former silage clamp at Lulham Court Farm dates from 1885 and is constructed with red brick square piers that support a timber roof structure covered in pantiles. The gable ends of the roof are finished with weatherboarding, as are the angles between the piers and the roof. There are five red brick piers on each side, which rise from brick walls that are covered in cement; the wall at the west end is now pierced. This silage clamp is notable as the earliest known surviving silage clamp in England and was awarded a prize by the Royal Agricultural Society in 1886, which has descriptions and drawings of it.
