Description
Netherpaths Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some parts encased in the mid 19th century. The building consists of one range in two sections under a continuous roof: the left section is timber-framed, while the right section is brick. The left part features a brick base with timber framing above, painted brick infill panels, and a tiled roof. It has two storeys and two bays, with a brick stack at the junction with the right part. There are 19th-century casement windows in the centre, a pitch-hole window above, high double entrance doors to the left, and a ledged 19th-century door to the right. The left section has two rows of panels between the brick base and the eaves. The right part is brick-cased at the front and has a tiled roof that continues from the left section. It has four and a half storeys and three bays, with an external local stone chimney at the rear of the right-hand bay. The ground floor features two segmental-headed windows, each with 19th-century casements, on either side of the entrance. There are three gabled half-dormers with 19th-century casements, with the central and larger one positioned above an early 20th-century four-panelled top-glazed entrance door. Inside, both sections have similar trusses with raking posts from collars to principals, and the left part has a low upper floor that may have been used as a former hay-loft.
