Building Immediately North West Of Oldcastle Farmhouse

The building immediately northwest of Oldcastle Farmhouse is likely a detached kitchen, wash-house, and servants' dwelling, now disused. It probably dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of brick and stone over a cellar, with a tiled roof featuring a catslide to the south and a local type external stack on the north side. The structure is one storey with an attic and consists of two bays. On the north side, there are two wooden plain mullioned windows to the right of the entrance, one for each floor. The east gable has an early 19th-century six-light casement window, with another window beneath it on the ground floor of the east wall. There are two entrances: one on the right side of the east wall accessed by steps from a lower level, which has a brick barrel-vaulted dog-kennel beneath, and the other through a tiled porch to the west of the external stack. The brickwork on the south side and southwest corner is contemporary with the gable ends of Oldcastle Farmhouse. The detached shaft of the external chimney is connected to the main roof surface by a small attic cross-gable.
