Description
Rookhills Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century and early 18th century, with additions from the mid-19th century. It features box timber framing with brick nogging, as well as red brick with brick dressings, a plinth, and a dentilled eaves band. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and it has brick coped gables along with a large central brick ridge stack at the rear. The building is single storey plus garrets and consists of two bays.
On the south elevation, there is a central doorcase with a 20th-century glazed door set under a cambered head. Flanking the door are three-light casement windows, also under cambered heads. The gable walls include casement garret windows beneath segment heads. The rear wing has a central timber frame section with mid-19th century additions on either side. Inside, the southern rooms feature inglenook fireplaces and a straight staircase located between the walls. The timber framed section has high beams and low ceilings.
