SO 47 SW ADFORTON CP GRANGE

6/18 Storage building about 100 yards west-north-west 11.6.59 of The Grange

Gatehouse, now store. C14 with later alterations. Sandstone rubble and dressings partly weatherboarded. Tiled roof. Rectangular plan aligned roughly north-east/south-west. One storey and loft. North elevation has one small blocked chamfered square opening to right of centre and lean-to extension to right-hand end. South elevation has blocked moulded doorway with two-centred head to left-hand side. East gable has weatherboards, central loft opening and double leaved doors. Interior has truss with two pairs of panelled raking struts from tie to principals. The former gatehouse is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, County No 135. (BoE, p 322; RCHM, Vol III, p 2).
