Description

The Farm is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century, with early 19th-century and later alterations. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and brick, featuring a timber frame with brick infill. The roofs are covered with Welsh slate and pantiles, and there are brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan that is roughly aligned north to south, with two storeys and attics.

The east elevation has two windows on the upper floor, which are 2-light early 19th-century glazing bar casements with segmental heads. The ground floor has similar windows but with three lights. A late 19th-century gabled canopy is positioned over a central 5-panel door. There are two raking-top dormers on the roof, each fitted with 2-light late 19th-century windows.

To the right, under a continuous roof, there is a timber-framed section resting on a deep rubble plinth. This section features a ledged door on the left side of the plinth and two-leaved 20th-century swing doors on the right. Brick tallet stairs rise from the left to a roughly central ledged door on the upper storey. The frame consists of three square panels high from the plinth to the wall plate. At the rear, there is a catslide lean-to extension.

The interior of the southern part has not been inspected, while the northern part contains two early to mid-19th-century trusses with central posts that rise from collars supported by angle struts resting on interrupted ties. The southern part is said to have similar trusses, and the northern part is believed to have been a brewhouse.
