Description
Laburnum Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 18th century, though it has earlier origins and has undergone later alterations. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features an extruded bread oven and stack made of the same material, with a brick shaft for the stack. The roof is tiled and has a distinctive fish-scale pattern. The building has a rectangular plan and is aligned west-south-west to east-north-east, consisting of one storey and an attic.
On the south elevation, there is one attic window that includes a pair of early 20th-century 2-light glazing bar casements set in a weatherboarded gabled dormer. Below this dormer is a segmentally headed 2-light wrought iron casement from the mid-19th century. To the left of this window is a 20th-century steel casement. There is also a gabled glazed porch located to the right of the center. The east gable features an octagonal attic window positioned to the left of the end stack. Inside, the cottage has chamfered ceiling beams. The building is included for its group value.
