Description

Church House is likely a house dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, with later alterations. It is timber-framed with plaster infill, built on a base of roughly squared and coursed sandstone rubble. The roof is covered in Welsh slate, and there is a brick stack. The building has an L-shaped layout, with arms extending to the north and west. The north elevation features a 1:4 window arrangement, with 2-light casements fitted mid-20th century. A gabled porch, also from the mid-20th century, provides the main entrance, located slightly left of center on the main range. The restored gable front on the left-hand side has a raised roof and a jettied upper storey supported by curved struts. The gable displays exposed queen struts at the collar. The timber frame incorporates two rows of square panels on each storey. The interior of the main range is not of particular interest. The trusses of the timber-framed wing are inaccessible. The building is included on the list for its group value.
