Description
Holdings Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, which has been altered and extended in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with a 20th-century brick plinth and infill, topped with a tiled roof and a 20th-century timber-framed extension. The original part of the house consists of two framed bays aligned east to west, with two additional 20th-century bays added to the east. The entrance is located towards the centre of the original two bays on the south front, and there is a large chimney stack at the west gable end. The building is single storey with an attic, and the south front includes four 20th-century dormers with 2-light glazing bar casement windows. To the left of the entrance, there is a similar 2-light window, while to the right, there is a single light window and another 2-light window, alongside a 20th-century ledged door. The framing of the original two-bay house is largely intact, featuring three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with angle bracing in the top panel from the main post to the wall-plate.
