Description

The building is a stable located about 85 yards east of Home Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped roof made of Welsh slate. The stable has a rectangular plan oriented north-north-east to south-south-west and consists of one storey and an attic.

The west elevation displays a symmetrical arrangement of windows in a 2:2:2 pattern. The outer pairs of windows are glazing bar sashes, while the central pair features top-vent glazing bar windows, all adorned with gauged brick heads. The centre of the elevation is advanced, featuring a raised pediment with an oculus. A deep projecting eaves cornice, made of dentilled bricks, extends across the base and around the slopes of the pediment. There are four pilasters at the left and right corners and beneath the pediment, all intersected by the cornice.

The central entry is round-headed, with projecting keystones and imposts. There are also wider depressed semi-circular headed arches for carriage entry between each pair of outer windows, which share the same keystone and impost details. Inside, some trusses have ties and collars, while others feature queen struts and V-struts above the collars. These stables once served Allensmore Court, which was demolished around 1957.
