Granary About 60 Yards East-North-East Of Wellington Court

This building is a granary and service block located about 60 yards east-north-east of Wellington Court, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a plain tiled roof that is hipped to the southwest and north. The structure is in an L-shape, with one arm running north/south and the other east/west, giving it a pavilion-like appearance when viewed from Wellington Court.

The south and west elevations showcase cogged eaves cornices, brick string courses, and stone dressings that stop short of the corners, with the centres advanced between stone quoins. The corners are accentuated with pilasters, stone keystones, and blind recesses. The building is one-and-a-half storeys tall and has nine bays on each arm. The south elevation features an elliptical central blind arch with an oeil-de-boeuf in the tympanum and four ledged doors. The west elevation includes a repositioned 17th-century console bracket, decorated with acanthus, located under a hemi-domed hood above the central entrance, with a second entry to the left.

Inside, the north/south range has pegged king posts, while the east/west range contains re-used raking strut trusses that continue from the adjacent ten-bay barn and cow house.
