Description
Corner End is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick and plaster infill and an asbestos slate roof. The house has two local stone external stacks, one on the west gable that includes a bread oven, and another to the east of the entrance, both with detached brick shafts.
The building is two storeys high and has two bays aligned east to west. The south elevation has two mid-20th century casement windows with two lights each on the ground floor, positioned one on each side of the entrance, which is topped by segmental heads. The first floor features two late 19th century casement windows, also with two lights each, located just under the eaves. Access to the house is through a mid-20th century porch that has a pitched slate roof.
The frame has been rebuilt in brick at the front up to the first floor level, with three square panels visible on the gable end. Straight struts support the main posts. Additionally, there is a one-and-a-half storey extension, likely from the 18th century, that extends one bay on the east end.
