Description

Castle Green Cottage and Stone Cottage are three houses dating from the 17th century, which were refronted and extended in the early 19th century. The buildings are timber-framed and clad in coursed rubble, topped with a combination of tile and slate roofs. The layout is T-shaped, with a cross-wing to the south that is known as South Place, while the main range to the northwest originates from the 17th century.

The northeast front features a gabled blind cross-wing on the left. The main range has two storeys and includes three windows: two 3-light casements on the left and a 2-light casement on the right, all set under segmental heads made of ashlar. On the ground floor, there are two 3-light casements to the left and a single-light casement to the right. The building has three entrances: a glazed door in the left-hand corner, the main entrance to Castle Green Cottage to the left of two windows with another glazed door, and an entrance to Stone Cottage on the right featuring a four-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed.

The south wall of the cross-wing displays a central gable above the entrance to South Place. The visible framing in the north gable end consists of two square panels high on the first floor, supported by three struts to the collar and V-struts in the apex of the truss.
