Description

Castle View is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with some early 19th century and late 20th century alterations. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill on a rendered plinth, and is partly underbuilt in painted rubble. The house has three framed bays aligned east to west, with a rubble stack at the east end. The west front is two storeys high and was formerly jettied, featuring a two-light casement window on each floor and a plank weathering attached to the tie-beam. The entrance is located on the left-hand (north) wall and has a 20th century half-glazed porch. The framing consists of four square panels high with curved brackets supporting the jetty. The gable truss includes curved angle struts and two struts to the collar.
