Description
This barn, located about 50 yards south of the Church of St Bridget, likely dates back to the 18th century but was remodeled in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings, kneelers, and verges beneath a tiled roof. The barn features six bays that are aligned north to south, with an upper floor in the southernmost bay.
The west elevation displays two rows of dressed vent loops, most of which are blocked, along with dressed quoins. There are double-leaved doors to the left of center, set within a dressed surround that includes a projecting keystone. On the east elevation, tallet stairs rise from the north to a ledged door leading to the upper floor. Inside, the barn has bolted queen struts connecting the ties to the collars. It is prominently situated on the southern edge of the churchyard of the Church of St Bridget and is included for its group value.
