Description

This barn is likely from the mid-19th century and stands approximately 75 yards west-southwest of Church Farmhouse. It is a brick barn with a slate roof, arranged in eight bays running north to south. The west-facing elevation features ventilator holes in the brickwork, arranged in diaper patterns; these are in groups of six, two wide by three high. There are full-height ledged doors on the west side, located in the third bay from the north. Inside, the roof is supported by pegged king post trusses, with additional raking struts extending from the tie-beams to the principals. The barn contributes significantly to the village landscape, as it encloses the east side of the parish churchyard and the west side of the Church Farmhouse complex; it is included on the heritage list for group value.
