Description
This is a barn located about 75 yards east of Arkstone Court, likely built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame covered with weatherboards, topped by a corrugated iron roof. The barn has five structural bays that run north to south. The east elevation includes tall double-leaved doors with a cambered head leading to the threshing floor in the second bay from the left. There is also a low entry with a ledged door in the plinth on the right side, which is positioned on falling ground. Inside, the framing consists of three panels from the cill to the wall-plate, and the tie-beams have pegged king-posts that support angle struts to the principals. The barn is situated in a prominent roadside position near the wainhouse and granary, and it is included for its group value.
