Description
Westnorsend Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with a late 19th century or early 20th century addition. The original structure features timber framing with wattle-and-daub infill in the earlier wing, which is rendered on the south-east front and sits on a sandstone rubble plinth. The roof is made of stone slate. The 20th century addition is constructed of sandstone rubble and has a Welsh slate roof. The earlier house is oriented north-west to south-east, with the 20th century addition extending to the south-west and connecting at the south-east end. A lateral stack from the original house is enclosed by the later addition. The entrance is located toward the center of the south-east front in the later addition. The farmhouse has two storeys and was originally designed with attics in the earlier house.
On the south-east front, the rendered gable end of the earlier house is on the right, featuring a 3-light casement window and a central bay with glazing bar sash windows on the ground floor. The later addition on the left includes two 2-light cross-casements and a similar 3-light window to the right of the 20th century porch on the ground floor, which has a part-glazed door. The close-studded timber framing of the earlier house is visible on the north-east side.
