Description
Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with additions from the 17th century and further alterations made in the mid- to late 19th century, along with minor changes in the 20th century. The building is timber-framed with brick nogging, and it features later additions and refacing in sandstone rubble. The roofs are covered with tiles and Welsh slate, and there are brick chimneys.
The earlier part of the house is aligned north/south and has two lateral stacks on the east side. The 17th-century addition on the west side is obscured by later changes and is also aligned north/south, running parallel to the original house. The farmhouse has two storeys.
On the south front, the timber-framed gable end of the earlier house is located on the right, featuring a jettied upper storey supported by a moulded bressummer and a 3-light window from the 20th century. To the left, there is a stone gable end of the later addition with a 24-pane glazing bar sash window. The entrance is on the west side.
The framing includes close-studding on the ground floor and decorative herring-bone framing on the upper floor. On the east side, there is a decorative stack to the north with two octagonal shafts that have trefoil-headed panels and bases, and a similar south stack with rebuilt rectangular shafts. The interior has not been inspected but is believed to be of interest.
