Description

The White Pheasant Restaurant is a building that originally served as a shop and dwelling, now functioning as a restaurant and flat. It features an altered 18th-century front that conceals a 17th-century core. The exterior is roughcast with a Welsh slate roof, and the building stands three storeys high with a cellar, displaying a two-window range. The windows include 18th-century 8/12 sash windows and 20th-century casements, with boarded soffits at the eaves.

The late 19th-century shopfront on the left includes a glazed and panelled door with a plain casement overlight, alongside a plate-glass window set in a moulded case with glazing shafts, topped by a moulded cornice and hood supported by panelled pilasters. To the right, there is an early 20th-century plank door, recessed beneath a moulded cornice on pilasters.

At the rear, there is a 17th-century timber-framed wing and cross-wing, which features ornate spurred quarter-bracing and 19th-century windows. Inside the rear wing, there is 18th-century panelling and panelled double-doors with bolection-moulded architraves. The staircase, which has been altered from the 17th century, includes barley-sugar twist balusters and a stop-moulded newel post, along with a stop-moulded ceiling-frame.
