Description
Kington Laundry and Border Cleaners is an early 19th-century iron foundry that has been converted into a laundry. It is built from sandstone rubble and features a Welsh slate roof with some composite tiles, along with a rubble stack base at the rear. The building has a courtyard plan with a rear wing and has undergone many additions and alterations over the years. It is generally a single-storey structure with various windows and entrances. The main entrance is a carriageway that is set under a dressed stone arch, topped with a pediment and a cupola. The rear range includes a louvred cupola. The rear wings, which are now used as dwellings, have a hipped roof, a 20th-century stack, and 19th-century casement windows, some of which have cambered heads. There are also altered openings beneath stone segmental arches, which likely indicate former wheel races.
