Description
The group value of these three houses, now cottages, reflects their historic significance. The front facades date to the late 19th century, but the core of the building may date back to the 16th century. The construction includes stucco, rubble, graduated stone tiles, and a plain tile roof with a gable on the left side. The plan is irregular. The houses are two storeys and an attic, with a single-window front. This window is a sash with three panes, set in a molded case; a casement window is located in the gable above, and there are two 19th-century dormers with casements. The entrance to No. 38 is a stuccoed bay on the right side, featuring a four-fielded-panel door in a molded case, along with a sash window with three panes, also in a molded case. Plank doors lead to Nos. 36 and 37, along with two sash windows, each with three panes and housed in molded cases, topped by concrete lintels. A rubble lean-to extension is found on the left return side. At the rear, two large gable wings are present, one roughcast and the other showing exposed timber framing; both have graduated stone tiles and plain tiles. Massive purlins and a substantial roughcast stack with three diagonal brick chimneys are distinctive features, along with various windows and entrances.
