Description

Ye Olde House is a late 16th and early 17th century cottage, now a house, located on Duke Street in Kington. The building is timber-framed with plaster panels, and has a steep-pitched Welsh slate roof with a gable on the right-hand side. Graduated stone tiles cover the rear roof pitch. There are substantial stepped rubble end stacks and a rubble axial stack at the rear, along with a 19th-century brick ridge stack. The house is a single storey with an attic. A 17th-century plank door is centrally positioned on the right-hand side. Various 20th-century cross-windows feature lattice-leaded lights. A passage is located to the rear on the left-hand side. An inserted opening is visible to the right, with a 20th-century two-light casement window in the gable above. Four 19th-century gable dormers are present.
