Description
The Steps Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been altered in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with wattle-and-daub and brick infill, and a sandstone plinth that has been completely refaced with pebble-dash render. The roof is tiled. The building has three framed bays arranged in a north-west to south-east direction, with a through-passage and end stacks. There is a lean-to extension at the rear (north-east) and the farmhouse is single storey with an attic and cellar. It has three gabled dormers, each with 2-light 20th-century casement windows. Similar windows are located on either side of a 20th-century porch that has steps leading up to it and a ledged inner door. Most of the framing is intact, with the exception of the south-east gable end. The interior retains chamfered ceiling beams.
