Description
Dormington Court is a country house that has been converted into a hotel. It dates from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th century and some minor alterations from the 20th century. The west wing is timber-framed with painted brick infill, while the rest of the building is made of brick. The roof is tiled and hipped at the center.
The main house is two rooms deep and features flanking wings, with a central entrance and end stacks. On the north front, there is a three-storey central block that has a string course and wide overhanging eaves. It includes three sash windows with glazing bars, a central 20th-century porch with a double inner doorway, a left wing with a string course and three 2-light casement windows, and a right timber-framed wing with three sash windows.
The framing of the west wing is mostly intact but irregular, consisting of four and five square panels from the sill to the wall-plate. Inside, the house retains a fine dog-legged staircase with turned balusters.
