Description
High House Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has undergone alterations in the mid-19th century and 20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill set on a sandstone plinth, along with a brick extension and a tiled roof. The building consists of two plus one framed bays oriented east to west, with the western bay being a late 17th-century addition that encloses the former gable-end exterior stack. A rear brick wing, added in the 19th century, incorporates a granary that is accessible by external steps.
The north front of the farmhouse is one storey high with an attic, which is illuminated by four gabled dormers. There are three windows, which are 3-light casements from the 20th century, and the entrance is located to the left side of the central bay, featuring a glazed door. The framing includes four square panels high with solid angle braces in the earlier part, while the later bay has three square panels high. The east gable displays three struts to the collar and V-struts in the apex, while the west gable has two collars with multiple struts.
