Description

High House Cottage is a house dating from the 15th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with painted brick and rendered infill, topped by a tiled roof. The building consists of two framed bays that are aligned east to west, with a gable-end stack located at the eastern end. It is one storey high with an attic, which is illuminated by a gabled dormer on the left side. The windows are arranged irregularly, with four windows that are mostly single-light casements. The entrance is located to the left of the center and has a boarded door. The framing consists of three square panels high, and the central truss is a cruck with an arch-braced collar, which creates an open hall. The western gable features a cruck truss, while the eastern gable has been rebuilt. The cottage abuts Lilac Cottage at its western end.
