Description

This is a barn located about 20 yards southeast of Oldcastle Farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It features a timber-framed structure with weatherboards and a half-hipped slate roof. The barn consists of five bays, four of which are fully framed, while the right-hand bay has a stone end wall. There are opposed entrances one bay from the right, accessed through full-height ledged doors, and a small single-storey extension at the rear left. The exterior has three panels from the cill to the eaves. Inside, there is a threshing floor, and the entrance-bay trusses are supported by central plank posts that connect to tie-beams and raking struts. The other bays have queen-posts supporting collars, above which are raking struts.
