Description
This house, located approximately 90 meters northeast of Ashton Court, is now divided into two tenements and was formerly a residence with the village smithy. It has a core from the 17th century that has been extensively altered during the late 18th century and mid- to late 19th century, with further changes made in the 20th century. The original timber-framed core has largely been replaced by 20th-century timbering, and the exterior features sandstone rubble refacing along with later additions. The building has a tiled roof and sandstone rubble stacks with brick shafts. It is aligned north/south, with later additions at both ends and to the west, and the entrances are located on the east front. The house has two storeys and features four 2-light casement windows. The ground floor includes a centrally placed Venetian-type window flanked by 2-light casement windows and further flanked by ledged doors. There are single-storey outbuildings attached to the north and south ends, both of which have circular brick detail in the gable and segmental brick arched openings. The interior has not been inspected.
