Description
The Cedars is a house that has been divided into tenements. It has a core that dates back to the 17th century and has undergone extensive alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a timber-framed core sitting on a sandstone plinth, with painted brick infill. The main front has been re-faced with brick and partially rendered, topped by a hipped tiled roof. The structure is in an L-shape, with an east gable-end stack and a west of centre axial stack. There are entrances located to the east of the main front, at the west gable end, and to the west of the rear wing.
The house is two storeys high, with the main front displaying three first-floor 3-light casement windows on the left and two 20th-century windows in the rendered section on the right. The ground floor features a French casement and a 3-light window on the left, along with a similar window to the right of a ledged door. There is also a 20th-century bow window and a 7-light 20th-century window projecting from the rendered section on the right. The timber-framing is exposed at the rear, and although it has been disfigured, it was likely originally square panelled framing. The interior is said to retain plastered ceilings.
