Description
This building consists of a barn, attached stables, and a shelter shed located 20 meters east of Burton's Farmhouse. The barn likely dates from the 17th century but was altered and remodeled in the late 18th to 19th centuries. It features a timber frame on a rubble and brick base, with red brick infill and some weatherboarding, topped with a slate roof. The barn has four bays and off-centre, square-headed cart entries. Inside, it retains three cruck-like trusses, which do not meet at the top and extend only about two feet above the collar beam, along with curved down-braces. The stables extend north from the barn and were built in the early to mid-19th century, featuring a brick structure with a plain tiled roof. They include four stable doors and six shuttered windows with segmental heads. Additionally, there is an eight-bay open shelter shed.
