Description

The Buttery is a stable wing associated with St Ethelbert's, currently serving as a tuck shop for the Cathedral School. It dates from the 17th century and features a timber-frame construction with render and a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and includes various 20th-century casement windows, as well as a box dormer with a lead roof.

Inside, the structure reveals its 17th-century origins with exposed timber framing, including a collared king post and struts, trenched purlins, and a ridge purlin. Some areas also show exposed wattle, along with doors from the 19th and 20th centuries.
