Description

This is a barn and cow house dating from the early to mid-18th century, located about 50 yards northeast of Eau Withington Court. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The cow house, which has a loft above, is built of rubble but was roofless at the time of the 1984 survey. The building features approximately ten bays arranged in an east-west orientation, with square panels that extend mostly three from the rubble plinth to the wall-plate. The weatherboarding was noted to be in poor condition on the south side during the survey.

There is a full-height cart entry that is roughly central, with broken doors on the north side, which are concealed by a 20th-century lean-to on the south side. A doorway is located at the west end near the cow house. The cow house has two levels and includes two doors on the west side and one on the north, all featuring well-crafted pegged 18th-century surrounds, along with an additional stable door on the south. Although the barn was missing its roof over the end bays and the cow house in 1984, it remains largely intact otherwise.
