Description

The building is a barn with a higher cow house located on the eastern side, dating from the 19th century. The barn features a timber frame set on a rubble-stone plinth, while the cow house is constructed entirely of rubble stone, both covered by corrugated iron roofs. On the southern side, which originally faced the yard but is now enclosed within a larger stock shed, the timber framing of the barn is visible, and there is a single wide doorway. A rubble-stone shed has been added to the left gable end. At the right end of the barn, there is a boarded door to the byng, which is set back from the line of the cow house. The cow house includes two lintelled doorways and a loft opening. A vertical joint indicates that the cow house was extended on the eastern side in the later 19th century and features brick quoins. The eastern gable end, facing the yard, has a split boarded door within a brick surround and a weatherboarded gable with a split boarded loft door. On the right side, there is an outshut that was formerly a root store, which has a door with brick jambs. Behind it is another outshut that was used for housing calves. The rear of the barn is clad in corrugated iron.

Inside, the four-bay barn retains three unevenly spaced cruck trusses. The outer cruck trusses appear to have been framed and infilled, suggesting that they may have originally formed part of a two-bay barn.
