Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Commercial Street is a shop and dwelling built in the late 18th century. The building features painted brick and a hipped Welsh slate gable roof. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window range, with 20th-century plain sashes beneath gauged brick flat arches and 19th-century 3/6 sashes above. The moulded brick parapet adds to its architectural detail, while the shop front was updated in the 20th century.
Inside, there is a winder stair with stick balusters. The attic contains 17th-century roof frames that were altered in the 18th century. On the second floor, there are 18th-century corner cupboards, a two-panel door, and architraves. The first floor features a 19th-century fire surround in the front room, a 19th-century sliding sash window on the landing, and additional architraves. The building is included for its group value.
